Meet “Lauren” – LizzieSat™-2

Honoring Legacies Through LizzieSat™: The “Unsung Sheroes” Initiative

Our tribute began with LizzieSat™-1 (LS-1), named “Thelma” in honor of Founder Carol Craig’s adoptive mother, Thelma Bovard. Launched on March 4, 2024, Thelma’s legacy as an educational pioneer and steadfast mentor has been a guiding force for LS-1 and a source of inspiration for future space initiatives.

Today, October 25, we remember and honor Lauren Ryan Boss, who tragically passed away on this day in 2022 from sudden cardiac arrest at just 21 years old. Born on September 17, 2001, in Cocoa Beach, Florida, Lauren was a beacon of faith, kindness, and service in her community. A 2019 graduate of Merritt Island High School, she earned her Bachelor’s in Practical Ministries from Southeastern University by age 19, exemplifying her dedication and drive. Her faith journey was deeply nurtured at Georgianna United Methodist Church in Merritt Island, where she served passionately in the youth group under the guidance of her older brother, Kyle.

Lauren’s commitment to faith and service continued through her work with the creative team at Saints Church in Queens, NY, where she inspired others with her kindness, generosity, and deep spirituality. Her life was marked by a devotion to spreading joy, mentoring others, and using her talents to uplift her community. She found joy in teaching, mentoring, and sharing her faith, touching countless lives in the process.

In Lauren’s honor, LizzieSat™-2 (LS-2) will bear the name “Lauren” as a tribute to her spirit, passion, and legacy of service. In preparing for the launch of LS-2 later this year, we are proud to partner with Who We Play For (WWPF), an organization dedicated to raising awareness of sudden cardiac arrest among young people. Together, we are working to promote heart screenings and early detection, in hopes of preventing similar tragedies.

Through this partnership and the “Unsung Sheroes” initiative, Sidus Space celebrates the lives of remarkable women and their legacies. We invite our community to join us in remembering Lauren, supporting heart health awareness, and advocating for early screenings that could protect young lives.
